Zima
"ZIMA" is a mysterious, moody and unique ode to winter. This is a special project that will take place over the winter season, from end of January to the end of March 2022. Click here to see photos and videos of the headdress in action: https://fb.me/e/1X4kwOXoT
WHEN: Deadline for headpiece/kit request is this coming Sunday Jan 30th (evening) (for those that want to perform the winter video project. If you just want the headpiece the deadline is flexible but keep in mind I have a very limited amount of these crowns and once they are gone, they are gone for good). You can send in payment later but keep an eye out on my posts - I don't know when I'll be sold out. This project will be similar to this production we created earlier this year: https://youtu.be/6KGQforP_CI
This event is PHASE 1 of ZIMA dance project. Focus: HEADPIECE!
This headpiece is going to be offered in two ways
1. You can purchase a kit to create this headpiece on your own for $150 + shipping (I expect the shipping to be cheap because the piece is *very* light - I ship internationally, if needed).
2. You can purchase a unique completed headpiece from me - $299 + shipping (I will need you to message me your height measurements).
Phase 2 of this project is learning (and possibly performing) a dance that was created with this headpiece in mind. The theme is WINTER and the goal is to capture nature in its full glory - this performance will need to be videotaped OUTDOORS IN NATURE (ideally near some snow/trees nature - don’t worry! You can just videotape a few artistic moments of you against the great outdoors and dance the choreography somewhere more comfortable - it will need to be outdoors but more on that later. Please know that the headpiece allows you to wear anything you want underneath so you can stay warm (ideally in dark colors and form-fitting, but warm)). You can just purchase the headpiece or the kit WITHOUT committing to the dance or the video project. For the choreography and video phase of this project please join this separate event (please note that the headpiece and the dance workshop are priced separately. The dance workshop is going to be a special of 2, 2-hour Friday sessions in mid February, likely to be offered through video to accommodate the various schedules - + 1 short 1-on-1 feedback session with me, to ensure you look your best for the performance.
More will be posted about that here: https://fb.me/e/1PJmvKDyd and on this page , in early February, and emailed to all headpiece owners/builders)
Headpiece composition:
This headpiece consists of approximately 41 yards of dreamy fabric, trim, sequins, appliqués and various other details in different shades of gray and gold (18 different types of adornments will be used). The Crown is attached but the veil is reversible with details on the inside and outside the front veil.
If you are purchasing the headpiece making-kit:
I will provide you with absolutely all the physical elements of the headpiece: fabric and all various trimmings that will go into making the design. Some variation is possible from the model photos (i.e. the appliqués, trimmings and the shape and color of various pieces will vary but will all match the main composition in sentiment). I will also provide a *very* detailed video of the construction process.
What you will need and what I will NOT provide:
1. Fray check liquid glue
2. Glue E600 or something similar
3. good, sharp scissors (you'll need to d a bit of cutting for a few pieces )
4. Needles and strong cotton thread (nude and gold color) - I will do my best to provide matching thread colors but I can not guarantee it
5. Glue gun - very optional. I did not really use it but it may help in one spot during the construction process.
4. Mannequin head/mannequin . If you don't want to get one, you can probably use a pillow or a large mason jar to mount the piece as you construct it… it is not extremely important but is helpful. For this project, you will mostly need it in order to sew on the fabric while it hangs in tension, so you can also just use a hanger with clips to hold up the fabric.
INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO:
This video will be created in phases and posted on Vimeo, and emailed to all paid participants, starting the 2nd week in Feb (I plan on mailing out the first batch of headpieces next Friday) . I will also create a private FB group where you can get together and help each other through the headpiece-building process. Please note that sharing this video is not allowed - it will be assigned to a single email address per registrant.
REGISTRATION: In order to register, please send the payment through Venmo or PayPal and INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THE NOTES OF YOUR PAYMENT METHOD:
1. Your EMAIL ADDRESS (even if I know you well you MUST include your email each time, per each class) - it will be used to email you the link to class, 10 minutes before the beginning of a session
2. YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME
3. SOCIAL MEDIA NAME/PROFILE. This will help me resolve any issues that might arise during registration process. Please note that sometimes Zoom emails end up in the spam folder.
4. What are you paying for - kit or personal headpiece, made for you by me.
5. Send payment to either
"Irina-Akulenko" at Venmo or
"iAkulenko@gmail.com" through Chase QuickPay
"iAkulenko@gmail.com" through PayPal (this is my least preferred payment method - PLEASE SEND AS FRIENDS AND FAMILY, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE). Please keep in mind that I’m not sure how much the shipping will cost, but I’ll do my best to keep the price down. The headpiece is very light, so I think it will not be too costly. I will reach out to confirm your address and you can pay for the shipping after the piece is in the mail.
